Maritime Security Awareness With Security Duties

Some of these duties may include:

• Standing a quarter deck watch
• Making Ship Security Rounds
• Serving in Bridge areas where Vessel Security Plan is kept.
• Also applies to Mariners who hold keys to areas that require security such as weapons lockers, paint storage lockers, engineering areas where there are specific valves, (i.e. ballast, water, fuel or oil), etc.

These courses are part of the STCW requirements for mates and masters with licenses of 200GT or higher.
