Important Update from the USCG: Rejection of Incomplete MMC Applications
Important Update from the USCG: Rejection of Incomplete MMC Applications
Article published on October 23, 2024
Attention Mariners!
The National Maritime Center (NMC) has recently announced a crucial update that will impact Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) applications. Starting December 1, 2024, the NMC will reject any incomplete MMC submissions during the initial screening process. This change means that if your application is missing key documents, it will be returned to you, and you will need to resubmit the entire package.
The notice can be found here
Here are the essential documents required to avoid rejection:
- A complete CG-719B form (current version).
- Evidence of holding or applying for a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
- Proof of payment for the evaluation fee (pay.gov is recommended).
- Documentation that satisfies the drug testing requirements.
If your application is missing any of these items, you will receive an email notice outlining the incomplete components. Be mindful that the NMC will not retain or return any parts of the rejected submission, and you will have to start from scratch.
To ensure your application is accepted on the first try, we recommend carefully reviewing the MMC application guidance provided by the NMC. If you’re submitting documents via mail or courier, make sure to keep copies of all original documents in your submission for your records.
For more information or assistance, you can visit the NMC website, contact their customer service via online chat, email, or call their hotline at 1-888-IASKNMC (427-5662).
