We are thrilled to announce a unique opportunity to earn your OUPV ‘6-pack’ Captain’s License in one of the most beautiful and historic locations in the Florida Keys. From October 5th through October 10th, Sea School is partnering with the Boy Scouts of America’s Florida National High Adventure Sea Base in Islamorada to offer an immersive and intensive six-day course. This program is perfect for aspiring captains who want to gain their certification while experiencing the breathtaking beauty and rich maritime history of the Keys.
A Historical Gem: The Sea Base in Islamorada
The original Florida National High Adventure Sea Base, located on Lower Matecumbe in Islamorada at mile marker 73.8 on the Overseas Highway, began as a fishing camp in 1938. In the early 1950s, the Tollgate Inn was built, featuring deluxe rooms, a convenience store/bait shop, a lounge, and a marina with a 300-foot dock. By the 1970s, the inn had seen better days until the Boy Scouts of America purchased it in 1979, transforming it into a premier scouting facility. Today, it includes dorms for over 200 Scouts, scuba pools, and various program facilities, making it a showcase of Scouting.
Course Details:
Our OUPV ‘6-pack’ Captain’s License course in Islamorada is designed to provide comprehensive training. The course will run for six consecutive days, from October 5th to October 10th. Students are welcome to check in and stay the night before the class begins, allowing you to settle in and prepare for the journey ahead.
All-Inclusive Package Available:
We are excited to offer an all-inclusive package for students attending this course. You can stay at the Sea Base throughout the duration of the course, enjoying bunk-style lodging and three meals a day. This package ensures that you can focus entirely on your training and making the most of your time in this incredible location.

Stay tuned for our partnership with the Boy Scouts of America’s Captains College. In January 2025, we will be offering a unique 11-day course with options to complete OUPV, Masters 100, and a sail endorsement. This course will also have a food and lodging package available, and Sea Base will offer hands-on training on the water outside of class hours.
